Letter to John Morrison (By HEELRiZE)

Honestly, I’m at a loss for words as I write this. It’s been a whirlwind for me as a fan of the WWE wise. To clarify my last statement, I’ve always admired/disliked a number of WWE Superstars but there were always three I held to a different accord. The superstars I am referring to are Edge, CM Punk, and John Morrison.

My all time favorite WWE Superstar, Edge, departed the WWE due to injury. On the other hand, CM Punk rose above mid card obscurity and became one of the most popular WWE Superstars in the company. And finally, I find myself a mere four days away from the (speculated) departure of the one WWE Superstar I’ve adored since his debut on ECW against Nunzio in 2007.

While I wasn’t too fond of his Johnny Nitro persona, as I watched him display some of the most unique and innovative offense ever to grace the WWE, I thought to myself “this guy has got it” “there’s something special about Nitro”.

This is when my four year odyssey as a Morrison follower began and it has been a hell of a ride.

Dear John,

Honestly, when your program with Punk began to materialize on WWE ECW, RAW and SmackDown were a thing of the past. Sure, they had the Randy Orton’s, John Cena’s, and Batista’s but you and Punk were the New Breed. You guys made ECW must see television each week and Extreme Rules match with Tommy Dreamer was absolutely amazing.

Just when I thought things couldn’t get any more entertaining, you evolved.

You became John Morrison.

Your voice was deeper, your mannerisms were rockstar like, and your entrance was (and still is) undoubtedly the best in the WWE. The series of matches you had with Punk overshadowed the loss of the ECW Championship but the WWE pairing you and Miz as a tag team was mind boggling.

Honestly, I was skeptical at first but you guys were so entertaining. From the in ring tactics (Festus) to the hilarious skits on the Dirt Sheet, I loved everything about you guys. I recite your “Honestly, follow me, here’s a philosophy” quote from your Cryme Tyme diss weekly on Twitter to entertain my followers.

It was slightly disappointing when you guys went your separate ways but I was excited to see you flourish on the blue brand. Unsurprisingly, you did just that. You partook in some of the best matches of 2009 with the likes of Edge, CM Punk, Shelton Benjamin, Rey Mysterio, Jeff Hardy, Drew McIntyre, and Chris Jericho.

By the way, your pre match promo with Edge was hilarious.

As time passed, it seemed as if your title aspirations were getting closer and closer but I was very surprised when you were drafted to RAW with Edge and Truth. During your short absence, it felt like RAW was missing a piece of its puzzle. Its star power was off the charts but you were the one guy that stood out from everyone else.

While the first few months of your RAW tenure were uneventful, I held out hope that sooner or later, you would shine through.

And out of nowhere, you pinned Chris Jericho on RAW. Admittedly, I marked out because I knew the WWE had big plans for you. They allowed you to showcase your parkour while you delivered week in and week out. While Dolph has the tendency to say “follow that”, you subliminally used his slogan on a weekly basis.

For example, TLC 2010, John Morrison vs. Sheamus in a ladder match for a shot at the WWE Championship. Honestly, I expected a great match but you guys put on one of the best ladder matches in WWE history. As I watched you climbed the ladder, I felt like borrowing The Rock’s catchphrase because FINALLY, John Morrison had climbed the ladder.

Literally.

When Miz retain his WWE Championship, I had my heart set on a lengthy program between you two. It was obvious that you two possessed a profound amount of chemistry because of your two years as a tag team. While I was disappointed by the WWE having the match take place on RAW instead of the Rumble, you pulled out your show stopping ways once again.

I absolutely loved the WWE Championship match you two put on and I felt you had nothing to be ashamed of as you were the best on the RAW roster.

While WrestleMania 27 was okay, (love the archangel Michael attire), I believed your time was coming. I was surprised when Truth pinned you in a gauntlet match but I had yet another mark out moment when you won the spot from Truth the next week.

At Extreme Rules, you put on another great show and I felt like the WWE was going the “close but no cigar” route with you. I had high hopes for you and the MITB pay per view but your injury was spontaneous and unexpected.

I must say, RAW just wasn’t the same without you. I was incredibly happy when you finally returned but the weeks that followed left a sour taste in my mouth. As the weeks passed, the rumors of your departure began popping up randomly but I brushed them off as just that, rumors.

The massive losing streak convinced me otherwise and it saddening to see their treatment of you.

The reports are still popping up today but it’s hard to distinct the facts between the fiction because of the overwhelming abundance of these stories.

As I near the end of my letter, I’d like to thank you for the four years of overwhelming entertainment you’ve always provided.

Thank you for the numerous “mark out” moments you provided with a simple win. (Hell, I marked out when you beat Jericho last year).

Thank you for being the awesome individual that you are as I’ve met some of the coolest people on the planet that share the same admiration and love for you as I do.

And if you do decide to leave, I wish you the best of luck and will always support you as one of your many MoFos/JoMoSapiens.

Thank you JoMo

Sincerely,

A HUGE JoMoSapien
